Twilight golf is a discounted rate for rounds that start in the afternoon. You're paying less because you won't finish all 18 holes before it gets dark.

When Does Twilight Start
It varies by course. Common start times:
- 1:00 PM - some courses, especially during shorter daylight months
- 2:00 PM - the most common twilight window
- 3:00 PM - later start, usually an even steeper discount
There's no universal rule. Each course sets its own twilight cutoff. If you're not sure, call the pro shop and ask what time their twilight rate kicks in.
How Many Holes Can You Play
It depends on your start time, your pace, and the time of year. In the Philippines, sunset is roughly between 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM depending on the month.
You're not required to play a specific number of holes. You play until it gets dark (or until you decide to stop). Some golfers treat twilight as a focused 9-hole session rather than trying to squeeze in 18.
Why It's Cheaper
The discount exists because you're getting less daylight and likely fewer holes. Courses would rather fill those afternoon tee times at a lower rate than leave them empty.
Savings vary. At some courses, the twilight rate is 30% to 50% lower than the full-day green fee. At others, the discount is smaller. Weekend twilight is still usually more expensive than weekday twilight, but the relative discount often stays consistent.
Note: caddie fees and cart fees typically don't change for twilight. The discount applies only to the green fee. But if you skip the cart (more likely for a shorter session), your total savings are even higher.

Who Is Twilight Golf For
Budget-conscious golfers. If you want to play more often without spending full-day rates every time, twilight stretches your budget.
After-work golfers. If you work a standard schedule and can get to a course by 2 or 3 PM, twilight lets you squeeze in a round on a weekday. This is common among golfers based near courses south of Metro Manila.
People who don't need 18 holes. If you're happy with 9 to 12 holes and a nice walk, twilight is a perfect fit. Less time, less money, same course.
Players who prefer cooler conditions. Late afternoon in the Philippines is significantly cooler than midday. Less direct sun, more comfortable temperatures, and often a breeze coming in.

Not every course advertises twilight rates on their website or social media. The most reliable way to find out:
- Call the pro shop and ask directly
- Check the course's fee sheet (some list twilight as a separate row)
- Compare across courses using fee directories
